Working at Starbucks in NYC.. 2 Starbucks Jobs

Submitted by mystifire on Sat, 02/02/2008 - 11:41am.

Hi!

I live in NYC and want to work at Starbucks. I am going to a hiring fair soon and have a resume but do not have any experience in food service though I have had 1 job before in an office setting. Even if you have barely any experience, is it still possible to get hired at a starbucks?

If I tell them I am available almost all the time, how many hours could I get scheduled for a week?

Is it possible, if I get less than 24 hours at one store, to pick up more hours at another? Like work as a barista at two different stores (one during the morning shifts and one during the evening shifts)? Is this against company policy? Will the scheduling turn out to be too conflicting?

Also, what are the time frames of each shift? Like what times during the days do the 4 hour shifts fall under?

Is anyone here familiar with the starting wages of starbucks baristas in NYC?

Don't even bother coming to any of the events without references. They will not even take your application or allow you to get an interview (I basically wasted my time and $4 on a metrocard on nothing). I don't really believe in references because I can just put anybody that can say something good about me (everyone knows someone that can say something good about them). I just don't see why they would weigh references over skills, interview, and school (which is probably the best benchmark to judge whether or not someone is hardworking or not).
