Are you kidding me?

I heard about this on the news and almost fell off my

chair laughing. I mean, really, making a mocha deserves a union?

Let's see here, if my company promised me $20 an hour, and they only

gave me $15 an hour. Guess what I would do....mmm..tough one.....QUIT!

I have skills other than making coffee, so I would quit and go get another

job. Pretty easy. I wouldn't whine about how bad my employer is, I wouldn't

try to get all the people together and 'fight' for my cause. I would quit.

PEOPLE, YOU ARE MAKING COFFEE. SOME OF YOU HAVE MASTERS AND PHDS!!!!!!!

The democrats can't save you forever. Having a job isn't a right, it's a

privilege.

Jobs are neither rights nor privileges, they are necessities. To live we must work. So the question is not whether we deserve a job, because we will have work to do regardless, rather the question is do we deserve a wage which can sustain our lives when we work.

More importantly the question is does anyone deserve to sustain themselves at our, no at your, expense.

If the value of your work is forty dollars, are you content to only receive twenty while you employer plays golf and dines out at the best restaurants on the other twenty?

You talk about quitting. Organized workers choose to do the same only they do it all at once so the employer understands the value of their combined effort.

It doesn't matter what I 'think' my value of work is. The market determines this. Good example, 3-4 years ago, Microsoft Certifications were the big thing. You could get one and earn 60-100 an hour. Well, this became popular and more and more certified people flooded the market. Well, the wage went down. Now, those people that thought they were worth 70 an hour couldn't get > 50. Wahhhhhh. Deal with it.

Funny thing is that I used to think the workers at Starbucks were just college students working part time to pay for college. Then I starting reading some of your dumb sayings on your stupid chalkboards (like I care, just give me my coffee), I realized that a lot of you people do this for a living. hahahahahahaha So funny.

I bought my own machine and make my own stuff at home now. I was sick of my phd barista screwing up my mochas.

Here is a great example. My father had 5 kids. On his 5th kid, he realized that his high school education wasn't going to pay him enough to support 5 kids. So, he went to night school and got his college diploma. He increased his wage because HE WORKED FOR IT. Not because he 'banded' together and cried to the Democrats to protect him. Too many lazy people in this world.

So then you don’t “hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

You hold the truth that all men are created unequal and that we deserve only what we can manipulate the market to provide us.

I other words you despise both, Liberty and markets free form coercion. I.e. Free Markets.

If Starbucks has to sell their coffee at $5 a cup to make a profit, then that is what the market determines. That is what you and I will pay for it. This in turn leads to how much they pay their employees. Get it? You need to go back to school and get another masters in business. hahahahahahahah

If we stop buying the $5 cup of coffee because we think it's too much, guess what? Starbucks has to lower their prices to bring us back in. Well, genius boy, guess what? They have to lower their wages because REVENUE is less than their PROFITS. Simple math.

IT'S NOT FAIR. MARCIA MARCIA MARCIA! You guys sound like Jan whining about how Marcia always gets everything. I should buy you a bit tit, so when you get sad that Starbucks will only pay $15hr to make a mocha, you can suck on it all night.

I means we all have an equal right to do so. Some of us shouldn’t have to work more than others to attain the same privledges.

If is the operative word.

“That is what you and I will pay for it.”

Not in a free market. In a free market the price is set through negotiation between equals, not by executive corperate fieat.

Not in a free market. In a free market how much they pay is determined through negotiation. The negotiation strenth of the parties playes as large a role as the business plan of the corperation. Unions therefore, having greater bargaining power, generally speeking negotiate hire wages than individual workers.

I hope you don’t work or manager a Starbuck or any other business for that matter. What starbucks workers do is entertain. They provide service. That service is a form of entertainment. They play a role. The coffee itself is irrelevant. Coffee in America is ubiquitous. Starbucks doesn’t sell coffee, starbucks sells the starbucks experience.

behind the counter are talking about what they did last night instead of getting my mocha was entertainment?

You are messed in the head dude. You have GOT to work for some Govt. organization, I just know it.

The funny people are the ones that get to know the Starbucks people. They say "Hi Jim, the regular", hahahahahahah get in, get your coffee and get out of my way because I'm tired and if you keep talking to that 'entertainer' with the nose ring, I'm going to beat the both of you with a chair.

Connecting with people is what Starbucks wants. What's wrong with getting to know someone you see everyday you work? I did it when I worked in a snack bar at a bowling alley, when the league bowlers would come get drinks and food the same tme every week because they were in the league. If you don't want human interaction, then go to 7/11, they're always open, always have a pot of coffee on, and could really give a damn about you.
